Paint the Town Red Fc .......
Well there it is, the final curtain was drawn on the Paint the Town Red Fc adventure on Saturday morning in the glorious sunshine at the Kings lodge, where it all began.
Pttr were facing Meredith Rd in their last ever game as Meredith looked to clinch the league title with a win and deny Affinity.
A calamity of a start saw Meredith take a 3 -0 early lead , but Pttr were determined not to go out with a whimper and fought back to go in to the break just the one goal down at 3-2 to Meredith. The momentum was now with Pttr and some missed chances were to prove costly even though Meredith were now down to 10 men after a disgraceful and shameful head butt which left a sour taste. The irony of it is it probably affected us more than Meredith as they went on to score 2 more goals and seal their title triumph.
Congratulations Meredith Rd.

Can I take this opportunity of thanking each and everyone of you who has pulled on the PTTR strip and representing the ‘brand’ of PTTR so well. The universal praise from other teams and managers of our attitude and playing the game in the right spirit is one I am most grateful for and very proud of.
You have all helped to promote Paint the town Red. Thank you.

Thank you to Drewy for organising the playing side of things and improving us all as players.

Thanks to Steph and Dave Devall for the sponsorship of the team and their support.

Thank you to Matt ‘Cob’ Kerby for storing all the gear and helping set up the nets every week.

Thanks to Tim Jacques who had the insight and guile to set the team up in its origin.

I take you back to our mission statement further down this page, it is my hope and prayer that we have achieved our goals if not now then some time in the future. It has been a pleasure working with you all and I wish you all the best for the future.

Wrighty

Also a big thank you to the Anker for providing the venue and the bands for providing the entertainment.

River Anker Cleanout
After a wonderful event cleaning parts of the river last year, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council were keen for us to clean the River Anker again this year. We worked closely with the council and with Don Jones of St Nicolas Church, to tackle three areas of the river and the surrounding areas:
Whytell Pool and Meadows, the area opposite Weddington Road Post Office, and in Riversly Park, near the town centre.
Although it was hard work, we also had a lot of fun! Many thanks to everyone who got involved and all those who helped facilitate it!

Glowing Red
On Sunday 23rd November the Paint the town Red team gave out 2500 RED glow-stick bracelets free of charge at Nuneatons official switch-on of the Christmas lights. Despite harsh weather, we had a good number of volunteers who saw young and old alike having fun whilst sporting Red glow sticks. You couldn't miss them.

We had great positive feedback, and even overheard young people talking about it over the following week in local schools. Many thanks to all those who braved the weather!

George Eliot Community Centre
Although the work at George Eliot Community Centre was temporally postponed, Paint the Town Red has been resourcing the project with one of Paint the Town Red's operational directors providing the manpower. Work has been carried out in order to create a planting area for people with disabilities within the community. The garden has also had a massive overhaul, with weeding, planting, tidying and some desperately needed maintenance.

NNTO Building Project Complete
I've been asked to pass on a huge THANK YOU to everyone who got involved with the building project for Ninety Nine to One. The building is now up and everything has just been moved in. It contains a warehouse and office, and thanks to the electrical guys: light and power sockets. The speed with which it went from a pile of rubble to a building with four walls and a roof was absolutely phenomenal! This is an old picture which doesn’t show the latest improvements.

PTTR Helping NNTO with Building Project
Ninety Nine To One is a charity dedicated to supporting the poor in Brazil and the Philippines. They have recently lost their office and storage space, and are in the process of constructing a new building in Exhall. PTTR have been asked to give any support they can to this in the form of volunteers. If you want to get involved, please speak to Dave, new events may be coming up for this.

Hot Cross Buns
This Easter, we wanted to be handing out hot cross buns and Easter cards. Thanks to the ropewalk, and the many people and organisations who gave us buns, we were able to do this on Good Friday - the 21st March!

The day went very well, with many people turning up to give their time: carrying, cutting, buttering, and giving out buns and cards to people. We gave out over 1000 buns and 250 Easter cards to everyone from shopkeepers to the window shoppers.

A great big thank you to everyone who turned up to help out, you guys made this a success!

Leg Wax
It doesn't matter how many people tell you it won't hurt, let me assure you, having hairs forcefully ripped from your legs is a tad painful! There were quite a few screams and many grimaces. On the upside we raised over our £620 target, and all 5 people were waxed as a result!

Thanks to all the guys who agreed (or were forced) to take part, the girls who organised it, and everyone who sponsored!

Carwash Success
The carwash went down a storm! We had great weather for mid-January. Although it threatened to rain a few times it never managed anything more than spit a few drops at us.

The event started at 10:30 and we had people lining up for the offer of a free car wash. We gave away cups of tea and bacon sarnies to anyone who wanted. After a very busy time throughout the day, we finished over 5 hours later. We weren't asking for donations but we still ended up receiving money, so we bought some more Leather Shammys and kept working!

A massive thank you to everyone who got involved!

GECC Project postponed
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances within the organisation of the community centre, we have had to postpone the work on the community centre until further notice. We will still be holding a community car wash on the 19th January, now located at Wembrook School, Avenue Road, Nuneaton.

Sponsored Leg Wax
Dave Banks, Danny Parr, Tim Jacques, Matt Prior and Ash Betteridge have agreed (under gun point) to have their legs waxed in order to raise funds for PTTR. Matt & Tim commented "This is not a fund raising exercise but a blood sport, people are paying to see us in pain" Amy Johnson, who is organising the event needs to raise £620 in order to get all five of them "stream-lined".

The torture... sorry.. the leg waxing will be taking place on 24th January, Venue TBC.

If you would like to sponsor the event or even attend, please email amy@pttr.co.uk

I hate Mince Pies!
So Sat 15th Dec was a great success... but i have to say... I don't wanna see a mince pie for a very long time!

From two locations in Nuneaton, one outside of the O2 store, and the other in the Ropewalk Shopping Centre, We gave out over 2500 mince pies in Nuneaton Town centre, and wrapped Christmas presents using almost a quarter of a mile of wrapping paper. The reaction from people was unbelievable... "How can it be free... PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY!" we simply refused, and if people insisted... we bought more paper and selotape with the funds.

Working with Youth with a Mission (Wildfire) we also sent a team of people into George Elliot Hospital, playing games, performing magic tricks and simply just spending time on the childrens ward with the youngsters who were in hospital over some the Christmas period.

I have this feeling we sent out the message that someone actually cares!

Well done to all those involved, and lets keep it going throughout 2008...

Lets continue to Paint the town Red!

24/7 Over, but not forgotten
Tonight at 10:30pm the prayer room closed. But the lifestyle of prayer hasn't

What a week! We saw every single hour filled! And God spoke! The walls were covered with pictures and writing:- things that were on peoples hearts and stuff that we believe God was saying! We will be putting images of these on the website as soon as we possibly can, so watch this space!

If anyone has a testimony they want to share, please email it to 247@pttr.co.uk

For us, we saw a good number of people developing friendships and learning to pray and seek God whole heartedly throughout the week. It seemed a reoccurring theme that people beginning to grasp something of the heart of God for the area. Many people described how they were feeling the pain and hurt of the people around them and the need for people to meet Jesus. The question is next... we feel that pain... what do we do about it???

Although the prayer room is no longer open, we should all be encourage to continually seek God, and ask for his direction.
